The Literacy Playdate Series
Early literacy skills are the building blocks of reading and communication that set the foundation for school readiness, academic success, and lifelong learning. Cultivating strong early literacy skills starts at birth and is a critical element of a child’s brain development during the rapid growth stage that occurs through age three. Caregivers and educators play an equally important role in creating strong literacy skills.
The Literacy Playdate for Caregivers strengthens participants ability to develop a culture of education at home by turning everyday experiences into teachable moments, supporting literacy development with multisensory techniques that enhance engagement and memory, and by increasing children's awareness of themselves and others.
The Literacy Playdate for Educators delves into multisensory techniques for teaching and learning foundational literacy skills. The workshop focuses on the science and practical application of multisensory instruction, play, multicultural awareness, and social and emotional learning. Educators will strengthen their understanding of each concept and consider how the concepts can be integrated into literacy instruction.
